free-fireworks-clip-artFalling in love is what all the songs are about. It is what drives adolescence. It is what some people make an obsession, at least for a time, but it is also something we ought to look at.

Beyond the idea that it is the other person who makes us feel that way is the notion that there is no one else in the world quite like our object of affection, and negating that idea would burst anyone’s “in love” bubble, but the truth is that being in love harnesses a kind of life force.

That life force has always been with you. Like the seekers in The Wizard of Oz, we have “it” in us. We just have to be shown that it is there.

In our last post, we talked about the fact that love is timeless. Whether you are falling in love with another person who could potentially be your life mate, or you are falling in love with an idea, or with your new baby, or with a coveted vehicle, the love infuses you with energy and it never goes away.  This energy that we write about extensively in our book Change Your Mind: Lose Weight, is always available to you. How much you access depends upon how much you let in.

Shakti Gawain writes: “Falling in love is actually a powerful experience of feeling the Universe move through you. The other person has become a channel in you, a catalyst that triggers you to open up to love, beauty and compassion within.”  In other words, another person or thing seems to stimulate something that is already inside of you. It stimulates you in such a way to see the world through different lenses.

While falling in love is often a limited experience because the newness of the spark inevitably fades, it helps to know that the potential for always seeing the world through the eyes of love is inside of you. It is there now, and you do not necessarily need something outside of you to feel it.  Loving yourself is key to living in that wonderful place all the time.
